Dear members of the Association:

On November 11, 2017 our General Assembly took place at McLean VA, where 17 members were present and the following matters were discussed:

1) «ENOSIS» Magazine At our previous meeting in Delaware we discussed this matter with the Vice President and the Treasurer. As you know, the magazine until today was printed by school students. Our Association was paying only the required materials for printing and an annual donation to that school. Our Treasurer, responsible for publishing the magazine, informed us that he has moved to another district of New Jersey, far away from that school and from now on the magazine can’t be published like it used to, but by a printing office where the cost would be very expensive. The majority of our Boarding Council (Th. Liappis and S. Stathopoulos) decided that our Association can’t any longer afford to publish the Magazine, so it will come to an end. Instead, it was decided that only a few pages with news from our Association and our members will be printed, so we would appreciate it if you could send us your news.

2) Τhe Book «OUR GREEK STORIES» It was decided that all the expenses for preparing, publishing and distributing this book will be entirely an obligation of the Members whose stories would be included in it and the treasury of our Association will NOT be charged at all.

3) On Wednesday October 4, 2017 the Priest Konstantinos Vastakis, previous President of Syndesmos Megalohoriton, previous Head Priest of Aghios Georgios Kypselis, Founder of Home of the Elders and spiritual Father of many Christians, passed away. Our Association sent a letter of condolences to the Syndesmos Megalohoriton «ΑGIA PARASKEVI» and a message of support to his family. At our General Assembly it was decided to donate $1,000 in memory of Kon. Vastakis to Syndesmos Megalohoriton for the needs of the Folk Museum. Attached is the thank you letter we received for sending that amount of money.

4) The elections for the new Boarding Council were postponed, because the bank statements and the Financial Review of our Association weren’t presented at the meeting.

5) This summer I and my family visited our village. We enjoyed the Tsipouro Night, that took place in front of the Folk Museum, an unforgettable night full of tsipouro, greek mezedakia and great music. I had the honor to address a greeting to our fellow villagers on your behalf. I visited the Folk Museum, a unique jewel of our village, with rare and exquisite exhibits and I had the opportunity to discuss extensively with the President of Syndesmos Ms. Kalliani regarding the maintenance problems of the Museum, especially in winter due to the extreme weather conditions.
